Another break, another start

Yep, I'm back after another long break. I am currently finishing my education, which takes up almost all of my time. I can't wait till I'm completely finished! My last exam will be in two weeks, after that I still have a written assignment I'll need to work on. All in all, I should be done with all of this in about a month from now.

I haven't really worked on the Citrine. Whenever I had some time to spare, most of it was spend on World of Warcraft. This actually inspired my new cross stitch design, since I've been wanting to stitch a Draenei for some time, simply because of the lovely colours (if you do not know what a Draenei is, and want to know, take a look here).

I finally got the courage to do something about this, and during easter I bought a program called PCStitch. It's a very simple tool that helps turn your pictures into cross stitch charts, and so far it works beautifully.

I've been a fan of Sara Forlenza's artwork for some time, and decided to stitch one of her pictures of a female Draenei mage. Since I do not have any copyrights to this image, I am not sure if I'm allowed to post the picture on my blog, but I'll throw you guys a link to the picture I'm currently stitching:

I just love those colours, and I cannot wait to see how she stitches up.

Here is my progress so far:

Female Draenei as of April 9, 2012

As usual, I am starting from the bottom, which means there'll be alot of half-pages. I do not mind that at all, on the contrary, it makes me feel that I am finishing a lot faster. In the photo I have finished just about 1½ page. It is pretty hard to see, what it actually is so far, but I can tell you that the big blue patch is the background, and the purple area is most likely her cloak.

Hopefully, I'll get to stitch during the next couple of weeks, but I highly doubt it, due to my exam and written assignment (15-20 pages on theories about learning and teaching...-.-)

A Weekend's Work

I have changed the design of my blog. I hope you like it. I chose the colours bearing the Citrine in mind, since she is my focus piece at the moment :-)

So here is what I did over the weekend. I could have done more than this though, so the progress is not overwhelming.

And here's a picture of the entire piece so far:

That's it for me so far! Hopefully I'll have more timefor stitching during this week (since I have the week off), I do however have a lot of 'homework' to do ;-)

Happy stitching!

Second Page Finish!

Yay! The second page is now finished and I simply love the result so far! Just a quick reminder of how she will look in the end:

Mini Citrine
And here's my current progress:

As of February 9, 2012
I can't wait to start stitching further up and see what she will look like! I will, however, stick to my plan and stitch all the way to the right side of the picture. I can tell from the full image that there's a small butterfly coming up, I am excited to see how detailed it will be - it is after all just a mini-version of the full Citrine, so I expect some of the details will be missing from this design.

Happy stitching!

Small update

I thought I would make a small update of this weekend's progress on Mini Citrine:

Mini Citrine as of February 6
As I've written earlier, the colours are very strong and I often wonder why I am to use those exact colours, or go to check twice that I have picked the right colour-number. But seeing it from a distance, it really makes sense how the colours come together. I love the result so far. Hopefully next time, my update will include a page-finish :)

Happy stitching!

Current progress: Mini Citrine

I've had a little time to do some stitching over the weekend. I had my exam today, and it went really well! My last exam will be in april, so for now I feel I can relax a bit more. There's a holiday coming up in two weeks time, so hopefully I'll get a lot of stitching done then :-)

Here's the Mini Citrine as of tonight:

Mini Citrine, January 30, 2012
Some of these colours have really surprised me. I did not expect such strong colours at the bottom of her dress, but it'll probably make more sense as I make more progress on her.

I'll see if I can get some more work done on her during the week :-)
Happy stitching everyone!

January's IHSW results

So, even though I had sooo many things to do  this weekend, I actually think I did pretty good :) I worked on the Mini Citrine I got from my husband for my birthday last year:

Before
After
There were many confetti stitches at the bottom of the dress, so that took me most of the Sunday, but I did get a nice headstart to the dress itself :)

Looking forward to see everyone's progress over the next days!

IHSW!

Yeah, so I signed up for this weekend's IHSW. I will not, however, be able to do alot. As explained in my earlier post I have a lot of work.

Friday, my husband and I are going to celebrate our anniversary. It is now six years since we started dating, it also means we have been married for exactly three and a half years now :)

Saturday, my mother is throwing a birthday party - she is turning 65.

And Sunday I have planned on working for a bit and preparing a lesson on Macbeth for my students.

So all in all, I am not sure how much I will get done - but I will most certainly try!

Happy Hermiting Everyone.
